In the past year, I've done 2 trips to Pushkar. Each had its own flavor. One was done during the Pushkar Festival. A photography trip where I saw India in all its Indian-ness through the eyes of 4 photographers and 4 different cameras. I can't say enough of the trip so I'm going to let the photos speak.
The first & the foremost for me was
Rajat Maheshwari, my traveling buddy. I call him the emotion catcher. He's so good at catching emotions on his camera that you can feel his photos more than see them. Delightful. Here goes...
The one on the right is my favorite because of the 'Fevicol' effect. I love the 'We're going on a summer holiday' feeling.. Its classic Rajat. He captures pictures that make him smile. This one carries the smile in it.
The on the right is the one I'm going to buy, and blow up for a wall in my house. Its the cutest photo I've ever seen. It too carries the smile. A broad grin, actually!
Then comes
Aparajita Saha. If photos are pieces of art, her's are all masterpieces. She humbles me with what she can see through her eye. Impeccable framing. Impeccable colors. Ethereal effects. She has the rare talent of capturing what she wants to see through her camera. I can go on and on about her but I shall let her pictures speak for themselves.
The ones on the left are Pushkar Fair photos. You've got to see each one in detail. Worth your time if you want to get the full picture. Its worth the admiration. her attention to detail is breathtaking. Everytime you see the photos, you find something new. Her pictures, to me, are like books which you can read again and again.
The ones on the right are her impressions of the Pushkar Nights. It blows my mind. All the glitz, the bling, colors, all the drama of the night in Festivalled Rajasthan. Don't believe me, Click Away!!
Below are her impressions of the Lake at Pushkar. No, it does not look as breathtaking in real life. But through her eyes, it was truly the most interesting place I'd ever been. So ladies and gentlemen - for you to fall in love with the Pushkar Lake.
Sanjiv Kapoor is a senior photographer, well known in the advertising circles. His images of Pushkar follow below:
He cooks up drama with his images. All his photos have a story to tell. If you know how to read, that is....
I read stories of animals traveling long distances, camaraderie between villagers, pride of performance, commerce, economy and lots more which I don't have words for. What do you read?
And Kanika Bansal, her photography is painting of dream canvases to me. She does heat and dust, and how!! She should seriously take up camera work for movies, such is the drama that she can create. For your viewing pleasure:
I loved this trip for all the view points it showed me. Not for what I saw through my eyes but for what I got to see from the eyes of these 4 photographers. There was one more. Nino, but he hasn't shared images yet. When he does...
Pushkar has a lot to offer as a destination. But that is the massala for another post. Coming up soon....

Devingel, great pictures and an equally great article. Having lived in Rajasthan for an important part of my life (in Austin, Texas now!), it is very nostalgic to see or hear about Rajasthan. ( Watched Cheetah Girls-One world with my kids to get a glimpse of Rajasthan:)) Can never get enough of it.
